UCC ISSUES NEW ORDERS ON SIM CARDS, YOU CAN NOT WITHDRAW MONEY FROM A DECEASED PERSON'S MOBILE PHONE ACCOUNT EVEN IF YOU ARE A CLOSE RELATIVE, JUST REPORT IT TO BE BLOCKED IMMEDIATELY
Was Uganda communications commission intended to oppress Ugandans or protect them from the atrocities related mobile communication misuses. The commission's prosecutor Abdul Salaam Waiswa, issued new orders from the communication commission to any body using a phone number of a deceased relative to report it to the commission to be blocked instantly because it has now become illegal. He also reported that a big number of people have been arrested and more are being pursued as they suspect that many are using these Simcards of deceased persons to commit atrocities. This implies that if you were registered as the next of kin on deceased person's Sim card, you will not be able to claim the money left on their mobile money account because these Sim cards are now supposed to be blocked instantly.
If you begin to set traps to implicate the innocent, how does that help to crack down on phone related crimes.
The major problem with Uganda is not enacting bad policies on the contrary Uganda has got some of the best policies on paper. The truth stands out that actually there's need for every Sim card to be verified, Every person must use a Sim card registered in their own names, Uganda communication commission must provide other security organs with sufficient communication leads in their investigations, Ugandans must be protected from being defrauded and terrorized through mobile phones. That's very true and we all need it,
BUT the problem resides in the strategies used in implementing the policies. Implementers are employed based on aggressiveness rather than mutuality. They move to act without analysis
Implementers invest all their strength on producing more offenders than avoiding them, because how can UCC after stopping telephone companies from issuing out new Sim card begin arresting people using phones not registered in their names. Why do they build a cage around Ugandans to begin torturing them. I don't think that's what they were commissioned to do.
There is a provision made by telephone companies where any person can update the status of the Sim cards they bare. You can fill up a form and request to edit the previous information related to your Sim card with the current information provided. This can be done after verifying that you have been rightfully using the current Sim Card, because their are many people using Sim cards registered in the names of their relatives because they had not secured Nation IDs by the time their Sim cards were switch off, How can you then begin implicating such people as criminals when you know their is a possibility of information edit rather why do you first make the provision non functional by taking grave actions when verification is suspended.
Stop abusing government policies by applying primitive means of Implementation, because we are living in an error were humans have got rights.
